This week we will resume the topic of prayer as we examine another difficult passage of scripture in James 5:15 where it talks about “The Prayer Offered in Faith.”

Is any among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing Him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
James 5:13-16 NASB

3 Foundations:
1. (Faith in Jesus is essential)
2. (Prayer is important)
3. (Faith is required)

Application for Sickness

> (The Role of Spiritual Leaders)
> (The role of Anointing)
> (The role of Confession)

“In the Name of the Lord” recognizes…

1. (The Sovereignty of God).
2. (Prayer is based on who He is, not what I have done).
3. (Requests should always result in God’s glory).

Question:
If God is sovereign and His will is going to be done anyway, why pray?

1. (Prayer makes a difference)
2. (Healing will take place)
