In Unsearchable Riches, part five, we will look at Ephesians 3:16 where Paul begins his prayer for the church. They are experiencing tribulation because of their faith in Christ and Paul prays for them “to be strengthened with power through His spirit in the inner man.” His concern is not for himself but for the believers to have spiritual strength to face their battles.

…that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man…
Ephesians 3:16 NASB

Paul doesn’t pray for:
(A change in circumstances)
(God to bless)

Characteristics of Paul’s Prayer:
(It’s spiritual) – Matthew 6:33
(It’s specific) – Philippians 4:6
(It’s honest) – 1 Peter 5:7
(It’s real) – John 16:33
(It’s for personal development not for problem solution) – 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

“The Inner Man”

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete…
1 Thessalonians 5:23 NASB

(A lack of understanding)
(A lack of awareness)
(No place to turn)

(To grow)
(To fight)
(To fulfill potential)

2 Areas for strengthening:
1. (The Mind)
(Wandering Thoughts)
2. (The Will)

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:12 NASB
