As we begin a new year, be thinking about the “one word” that you want to focus on throughout the new year. And as you begin to pray for your one word, also be thinking about that “one person” to whom you would like to invest time in and pour into throughout the year 2020. It’s better to do something for one than nothing for anyone.

My One Word

“Do something (about one thing) rather than (nothing about everything).”

While He was still speaking, they came from the house of the synagogue official, saying, “Your daughter has died; why trouble the Teacher anymore?” But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken, said to the synagogue official, “Do not be afraid any longer, only believe.” And He allowed no one to accompany Him, except Peter and James and John the brother of James. They came to the house of the synagogue official; and He saw a commotion, and people loudly weeping and wailing. And entering in, He said to them, “Why make a commotion and weep? The child has not died, but is asleep.” They began laughing at Him. But putting them all out, He took along the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and entered the room where the child was. Taking the child by the hand, He said to her, “Talitha kum! Immediately the girl got up and began to walk, for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were completely astounded.

My One Person

“Do something (for someone) rather than (nothing for anyone).”

He entered Jericho and was passing through. And there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector and he was rich. Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, and was unable because of the crowd, for he was small in stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way. When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”
