Finding Clarity During COVID-19: A Study in the Book of Joel Part 3
As we contemplate all the events that have taken place over the past few months many believe that COVID-19 is a wake-up call for our world and that God is calling us to repentance. Today we will continue in part three of “Finding Clarity During COVID-19” as Pastor Mike helps us to see that God longingly desires for us to turn to Him. What happens if we refuse?

NOTES
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone… Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.” Matthew 24:36 & 42 NASB

How Shall We Respond?
(Repentance)!

What (Repentance Looks Like)
Even now—this is the LORD’S declaration— turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Tear your hearts, not just your clothes, and return to the LORD your God. For He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in faithful love, and He relents from sending disaster. Joel 2:12-13 CSB

(Turning from Sin)
&
(Turning to God)

Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, I have sinned… Psalm 51:1-4a NASB

What (is God’s Response?)

Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave a blessing behind Him, so you can offer a grain offering and a drink offering to the LORD your God. Joel 2:14 CSB

(Mercy & Grace)

What (Happens if We Refuse?)

Blow the ram’s horn in Zion! Announce a sacred fast; proclaim a solemn assembly. Gather the people; sanctify the congregation; assemble the aged; gather the infants, even babies nursing at the breast. Let the groom leave his bedroom, and the bride her honeymoon chamber. Let the priests, the LORD’S ministers, weep between the portico and the altar. Let them say, “Have pity on your people, LORD, and do not make your inheritance a disgrace, an object of scorn among the nations. Why should it be said among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’” Joel 2:15-17 CSB
