As we finish up the series, “Where to Turn When I’m All Stressed Out,” Pastor Mike reminds us that if Christ is our purpose for living, then, with God’s power joy can be experienced in every stressful situation. It’s all in how you look at it.

NOTES

3 Foundations to Build From

(God is in control)

(God is all powerful)

(Joy can be experienced)

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!  Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:4-7 NASB

4 Essentials

1.  (I need a perspective to live from)

Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel…  Philippians1:12 NASB

When I face problems joyfully:

(Unbelievers are impressed)

…so that my imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to everyone else…  Philippians 1:13 NASB

 (Believers are encouraged)

…and that most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear.  Philippians 1:14 NASB

2.  (I need a priority to live by)

What then?  Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice.  Philippians 1:18 NASB

3.   (I need a power to live on)

Yes, and I will rejoice, for I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.   Philippians 1:19 NASB

With God’s power

(Nothing can devastate me)

4.   (I need a purpose to live for)

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.  Philippians 1:21 NASB

Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 3:13-14 NASB
