God said that He is the “I am.” He is whatever we need…so, what is He to you? Is He your way maker, your soul-searcher, your strong and mighty tower? The list can go on and on. Today Pastor Mike will show how God can be our “Peace in the Pandemic” as we take a look at Psalm 23 that says, “The Lord is my Shepherd.”

4 Characteristics of the Great Shepherd

1)  The Shepherd is (reliable with the sheep)

LORD = (Yahweh)

God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM” and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, “I AM has sent me to you.”  Exodus 3:14 NASB

For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him.  Colossians 1:15-16 NASB

Reveals (Dignity) 

2) The Shepherd is (responsible for the sheep)

“I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.”  John 10:11 NASB

Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord…  Hebrews 13:20 NASB

Sheep represents (humanity)

3)  The Shepherd is (responsive to the sheep)

“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” John 16: 33 NASB

“I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread.” Psalm 37:25 ESV


4)  The Shepherd is (related personally to the sheep)

If you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve for six years; but on the seventh he shall go out as a free man without payment”… But if the slave plainly says, “I love my master, my wife and my children; I will not go out as a free man,” then his master shall bring him to God, then He shall bring him to the door or the doorpost. And his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him permanently.  Exodus 21:2-6 NASB

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.”  John 10:27-28 NASB
