Overview: The Director of Route 56 Ministry will lead a team of volunteers to develop an engaging and ever-expanding ministry that partners with parents to introduce pre-teens to Jesus Christ and encourage the development of their faith.
Current Position Status: Part time 15 hours per week
Reports to:The Director of Route 56 Ministry reports to the Director of Children’s Ministry and works with the Family Ministry Team.
Focus, Time Distribution and Specific duties:
Planning and Production – 45%
Work with Children’s Ministry Director to establish clearly defined “wins” for the Route 56 ministry and its various programs/events and evaluation of ministry effectiveness
Coordinate the various programs for children into a focused and integrated strategy with clear goals for developing the spiritual maturity of children. Emphasize quality over quantity.
Plan and implement Route 56 Ministry at weekend services
Work with the Broadcast and Amplify Director to ensure the effective transition of 4th graders into the ministry and of 6th grade students into Amplify Student ministry
Work with key volunteers to produce an engaging large group experience and small group experience that provides an environment for personal spiritual growth
Benchmarks: Develop ministry specific goals and plan to implement and evaluate effectiveness; Kids participation in large group time; Small group leaders investment and kids participation
Ministry to Families – 25%
Develop opportunities that bring together parents and children that provides spiritual interaction, discussion and development;
Provide resources for parents/families as needed
Communicate regularly with parents
Encourage children to take their next steps of faith and communicate with parents how they can support those next steps
Benchmarks – Regular communication with parents, evidence of families and church combining their influences; children taking next steps of faith
Leading Volunteer Teams – 20%
Develop plans for discovering, recruiting, training and screening of all Route 56 ministry workers
Communicate regularly with volunteers in order to build ownership
Benchmarks: An expanding Route 56 ministry team; Regular communication with volunteers
Staff Participation and Administration– 10%
Participation in Family Ministry Team, overall staff meetings, retreats, etc. as requested
Develop and effectively administer Route 56 ministry budget
Develop, communicate and enforce policies pertinent to the Family Ministry Team.
Benchmarks: participation in staff events, willingness to help other staff; Wise spending within set budget; making known and enforcing policies
Necessary Knowledge and Skills:
Highly relational; a person who likes working with kids, adult leaders and families
Good working knowledge of technology;
Strong planning skills with organizational emphasis
Personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ
Must be in agreement and in support of RLC’s Statement of Faith and purposes to Worship, Grow and Engage.
Experience/education in children’s ministry and serving on a church staff team are beneficial
Exhibits a team-oriented mindset towards accomplishing the church’s ministry
Be disciplined and diligent with his/her time, keeping a balance between home and work.
